Valentine & Rat Balls: February 2021 Vlog

Hi there Jellyfishes and welcome to our February 2021 updates!

In this loved up month of February we celebrated my 28th year on this planet, and shared the love for the whole Fluffy Jellyfish family on Valentine’s Day. I showed off all of my plants and introduced you to my new series A Plant Killer’s Guide to Not Killing Plants! We also introduced Tiamat back into the mischief, and Stuart started working on the garden in preparation for building Elvis’s new home! A lot of exciting things to enjoy watching in this vlog…

This month, Stuart started working on clearing all of the horrible old decking and mouldy wooden shed out from the garden. Luckily we know a cabinet maker who uses old wooden to heat his furnace, so we can drop off a bunch of the scrap wood there, but we still need to hire a skip to fully clean out all the rubbish that was leftover from the old tenants who lived here. Once it is cleared though, we can get my Dad round to help us make plans to build Stuart’s work shed, and Elvis’s inside home! as well as getting started on making Elvis’s outside home too!! I am so excited for this, and I can’t wait to share it with you guys… don’t worry I will be filming as much of it as I can!

It was a little hard for Stuart to make too much progress with the garden this month, as we had A LOT of snow, and it has been super cold in Scotland this February! As I’m writing this the sun is just peeking out from behind the clouds, and I think we are starting to move into the warmer weather… woohoo!

One of the things I am really looking forward to about having a garden is being able to grow stuff! As you discovered in my Meet My Plants video, I do not have the greenest of thumbs, but my series A Plant Killers Guide to Not Killing Plants is all about trying to do better! I really want to learn how to grow things, and take care of my plants properly, and I am looking forward to sharing my progress with you, and hopefully we can learn how to treat our plants better together!

This month, we also re-introduced Tiamat back into the mischief. If you watched my January vlog, you learned that we had to get Tiamat neutered due to hormonal aggression, and now that he has had the full time to recover from his surgery and for the hormones to leave his system we knew it was time to get him back in with his cagemates! Rats are very social animals, and housing them alone is very distressing for them long-term. We gave him lots of extra attention while he was in his hospital cage, but human love is not the same as rat love! So, we were very keen to get him back together with the rest of the lads! I think separation really did make the heart grow fonder, as the re-introductions went perfectly, and they are all getting on really well. There was a little dominance behaviour, a bit of pinning and squeaking at each other, but nothing too out of the ordinary, and we are so pleased that everything went so well. There is always a slim chance that neutering may not fix the problems of aggression, but in this case I am really happy to say it was the correct choice of action, and they are all living happily ever after! I hope all of our future introductions go this smoothly!!

Hit that follow button if you want to follow my adventures this March! Coming up this month I will finally be filming a long overdue update for my praying mantis enclosure, and a long overdue upgraded rat cage tour, and hopefully a pet room tour as well! We also recently bought Thor a fancy ceramic water fountain, so there will be a review video coming for that soon too! and I’m sure there will also be a bunch of surprises throughout the month too… as you never can predict what will happen when you share your life with animals!

Over and out from the Fluffy Jellyfish family! We hope you had a fantastic February, and that your March will be full of fun and adventures!

Much love.
Fluffy Jellyfish out.
